A 3-4 day educational adventure safari developed for student groups and school field trips. The Student Safari programme covers several modules that grant students real experience of various ecosystems including: Mangroves, Seashores and Coral Reefs. Conducted by experienced field biologists/eco-guides, the programme also introduces students to relevant ecological issues regarding pollution, environmental impact and eco-friendly resorts management.

Duration: 3D/2N (standard) or 4D/3N (extended)

3D/2N Programme Itinerary

DAY1: Kampong Walk and Mangrove Exploration Tour
After arriving at Paya Beach Resort, having lunch and checking into their rooms, participants gather to meet with their eco-guides.

The tour begins with the kampong walk near a local village, where a variety of fruit trees and other kampong plants will be introduced to participants. A variety of native animals may also be encountered. The walk will take the group through secondary forests and small river crossings leading to the Paya Mangrove.

The Paya Mangrove is the oldest and most mature on the island, and the group will explore this special forest. Here, participants will learn about the Mangrove environment, its various special plants and animals, and the unique role the Mangrove plays in the island’s ecology. Participants will wade through a small river to its mouth and follow the shoreline leading back to the resort.

DAY 2: Rainforest Hike, Freshwater Experience, Coral Reef Snorkel Tour, Night Adventure
The day starts with an early breakfast, then the group will set out for a rainforest hike up the lower slopes of Gunong Kajang. Both primary and secondary forests can be visited, with guides pointing out and identifying a large variety of rainforest plants and animals, including some that are unique to Tioman. The group will also enjoy the freshwater experience at the river systems, along with a refreshing dip in a cool river pool along the way.

After lunch and time to rest, participants will be gathered and snorkeling equipment handed out. There will be a safety briefing followed by some time for participants to familiarise themselves with the equipment. The group will then be guided on a snorkeling tour of the house reef. The coral reef is rich in marine life and participants can observe a variety of spectacular corals and other animals on the reef, including a wide array of colourful fish. The group will then return to the resort to rest and prepare for dinner.

An exciting night adventure on the Paya Loop will take place after dinner, with the guides leading the group through plantations, secondary forest, freshwater streams and the mangrove. These habitats are a totally different experience after dark, when nocturnal creatures may be encountered.

DAY 3: Seashore Discovery
A seashore discovery tour will take place after breakfast, if the tide is suitable. At low tide, the Paya inter-tidal habitats hold a good variety of interesting organisms for the guides to identify. After the tour, the group will be taken back to the resort to rest, and prepare for check out and departure.

NOTE:
For the 4D/3N programme, participants can spend part of the 3rd day taking a nature hike to Genting and back. This adventurous route takes groups through good coastal forest and the rural scene at Genting village. A good variety of flora and fauna can be encountered along the entire route, including the Black Giant Squirrel. At Genting, participants are invited to sample the excellent roti. Alternatively, go on a boat excursion to Tulai Reef & Mangrove Snorkel Tour, Tekek-Juara Rainforest Hike or Mukut to Kampong Asah Waterfall Hike
